Business Accountants: Get Organised for the 31 March Year-End – Key Dates & Tax Reminders

 

With 31 March fast approaching, now’s the perfect time to prepare for the end of the financial year. Acting early can save you time, reduce stress, and ensure your business is ready to thrive in 2025. If you’d like a checklist to guide you through the process, reach out — we’re here to help.

 

Provisional Tax Reminder

 

If you’re a provisional taxpayer — such as a sole trader or contractor earning income without tax deducted at the source — your final payment for the 2024 tax year is due on 7 May 2025 (if we prepare your tax returns).

 

If your tax returns are not prepared by an accountant, your final payment deadline was 7 February 2025.

Key Tax Dates for March 2025

 

📅 5 March

  • PAYE (Large employers): Returns for the second half of February. File employment information within two working days after payday.
 

📅 20 March

  • PAYE (Small employers): Return for February.
  • PAYE (Large employers): Return for the first half of March.
  • NRWT/Approved Issuer Levy: Payment and return due.
  • RWT Return: Payment due for deductions from dividends and deductions of $500 or more from interest paid during February.
 

📅 28 March

  • GST Payment & Return: For the month of February.
 

📅 31 March

  • Income Tax Return: Due for the year ending 31 March 2024 (for individuals and businesses with a March balance date where we prepare your tax returns).
